_Succisa pratensis_, also known as **devil’s-bit** or **devil’s-bit scabious**, is a flowering plant in the honeysuckle family.

Literally hundreds of these flowers in our garden at the moment. Never noticed them before.

Close-up of a purple scabiosa flower with delicate petals and long stamens, set against a blurred green background.

A field with tall grass and numerous small purple flowers, set against a backdrop of dense, green foliage and trees.
